No Technology Day

As you read this, the Mr. has officially declared this day to be No Technology Day. (This post has been written previously and scheduled to post for this morning)

No technology?! Has he gone mad?  I have been trying to bargain with him all week up to this day as to what devices I can use. Basically, I have to force myself to relax and enjoy his day off with him sans electronics. Phones will be on, but only for emergencies. No movies, no laptops, no iPad, no radios, no NOTHING. How will I ever make it through the day?!?!?! I have made numerous comments about the fact that I would love to move to a horse ranch and live like a hippie commune without all the druggie types, and just live a free life! No worries! And I guess this is the Mr.'s way of showing me just what that would entail.

A few times in the past, we have "unplugged" from things, but never from even the TV! Of course we will be using the lights, stove, and the heater being that it is 14 degrees. We won't be able to go outside for a walk, it will be all day inside, and I honestly don't know if he will make it out alive! :)

I've come up with reading books, playing board games, card games, and cooking for activities, which adds up to about 3 hours tops and this girl will get bored!

Wish me luck, friends!

Have you ever unplugged for an entire day?

  1. You can do it and you'll relax more.
I "unplug" at least on a year. I usually "unplig" from my ipad and email for a couple of days a couple times a year. It's pretty relaxong (after the first couple of hours) and I think it refreshes my mind some.
    Enjoy the day off!

  2. Sounds like a wonderful idea. Time to totally unplug! When we unplug we usually go out to the house so we don't get the chance to watch TV. The few times that we have been home and I was unplugging we spend time playing board games or taking walks, one night we did watch a movie too.

  3. I think the Mr. is glued to his electronics as much or more than me. He reads his magazines online, his work requires him to be in front of a computer, and he and his phone rarely part ways. I have noticed of late I opt for TV or my ipad over a book which I am trying to get over. But cute idea for when you both are off work!

  5. I was just talking about this with one of my friends. How you can get so sucked into technology. Its so bad that I finally pull myself away from the computer to go to bed and while I am laying in bed I am on the internet on my phone. Its horrible. I am not sure if I could unplug for the day but good job for you two!

  8. Oh my goodness! I feel like I need one of these. Maybe one of these weekends I can convince my boyfriend to do this with me. Put the phones away and actually spend time without the technology!
