Sticky Days

Sometimes, life gets sticky. Not tragic, life altering problems... just the little hiccups that set you back a step and make you refocus your life.

No matter what sticky problems life throws at you, God is ALWAYS there. Even for the little problems.  For the, my-to-do-list-is-a-mile-long-and-I'm-running-on-fumes kind of problems. For the, Lord-what-in-the-world-is-going-on type of days.

And it feels like God is far from you, far from the little problems. The truth is, He's always right there!  Always.

I love this verse for those sticky problem days.

What's your go-to verse for the sticky problem days?

Giant Lego Sculptures

I heard about the giant Lego statues before, but none of the tour places were near us. But, when they came to the Morton Arboretum, I couldn't wait to go see them!  I wasn't prepared for how incredibly awesome they are in real life!  I can't even describe them, just take a peek at the photos, they will wow you! Sit back and be AMAZED, we were!

I'll take a piece of Wisconsin, please and thank you!

Back in August, we traveled 8 hours to Northern Wisconsin for the annual fishing trip and it didn't disappoint. Much needed fresh air, beautiful trees, gorgeous lake, and even a bald eagle made an appearance! And, of course, Ginny had a ball, even if she was dog tired everyday... yes, I went there.

Take a stroll through our photos...the many, many photos. You were warned!

Adoption Update!

Hey Y'all! I told you I'd keep you in the loop about our adoption, and I am here to keep that promise!

Not much going on at this moment. We had a meeting with our caseworker. She explained some things, and we had a million questions. Right now, we are starting with our PRIDE classes. PRIDE stands for Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education.  I'm not sure if private adoption agencies have you go through this specific class or a different kind.  Basically, this is going to teach us everything we need to know about the Foster Care System, Foster to Adopt, Adopt only, and all that jazz. Our caseworker mentioned that it will help you navigate through this whole Foster Care world, which is something we need!

The classes are 9 sessions long, 27ish hours of classes, but we're on a double schedule so we will have double classes in one day. Reminds me of school days! We're going to pack our lunch bags and everything, because we're cool kids like that.

After the classes are completed, we will have the official home inspection and our interviews. And THEN hopefully get approved, or whatever word they use. We will be ready to go, just waiting on our child! EKK!

That's the latest. We still ask for your prayers for us on this journey. Things get stressful and hectic, so throw in a prayer for our patience, if ya don't mind!

Another way to support us during this process is to help the adoption fund! Check out my Etsy shop here and support the fund AND get yourself something really cool! The uber cute Mr & Mrs pillowcases are coming up in the shop probably Tuesday, so watch out for those!

And you didn't hear this from me, but word on the street has it that a certain someone is getting a ton of the dictionary fabric in soon and will have beaucoup dictionary scarves ready to go in her shop in the upcoming weeks! Y'all, when I say these scarves fly outta the shop, I mean they fly!

Only 1 left! Monogrammable Dictionary Infinity Scarf with Mint Green Stripe, Only store to offer these!

Don't hesitate on buying anything in the shop because I'm already getting custom orders and most things are only 1 or 2 in stock and that's it!

Do you know that there are only 74 days until Christmas?!?!? That blew my mind! Have you started your Christmas shopping? Comment below!

The one where I tell you about 5 minutes

This lady, Sheila Walsh, was a speaker at the Women of Faith conference I went to a couple of months ago... (I know, I'm such a blog slacker these days. I promise the recap post of the conference is coming soon!)

Anyway, she was there and she was fabulous! Her message rang true to my heart in so many ways. So when Book Look Bloggers had her devotional up for review, I grabbed that sucker up so fast!

And then, of course I have multiple book reviews in this post, because let's face it... you don't want a million book review posts and no updates on me & what I'm doing lately, right? Right! So here we go!

From Book Look Bloggers5 Minutes with Jesus by Sheila Walsh-- This lady blew my socks off at the Women of Faith conference last month. I mean, her story, her courage to face the deepest parts of herself, face that head on and overcome, she truly is an inspiration.  I'm incredibly thrilled to have this book come up for review! Sheila makes each and every devotion hit home in a great way, it makes me want to skip ahead and read multiple days at once! I would recommend this devotional for all ages, regardless of where you are in your walk with Christ... read.this.devotional!

From Tyndale House Publishers-  Anne of Green Gables, My Daughter & Me by Lorilee Craker

This book was great! As a child, I loved Anne of Green Gables. Author Lorilee Craker takes you along her journey about explaining the word "Orphan" to her daughter in such a magical way. I was captivated throughout the whole book, and eager to finish it!  Currently going through the adoption process myself, I loved the insight into the whole process. This book will hook you in the first chapter and not let you go until the end.

From BloggingforBooks.comThe Blender Girl Smoothies by Tess Master

If you ever wanted a smoothie recipe book, get this one to cover all of your needs! Tess Master combines the healthiest smoothie recipes with such visually stunning photos that make you drool by just looking at them! The thing I love the most about these recipes is, she talks about the health benefits of each and every recipe! Not to mention the diet specific recipes are such a help. There's something for every specific dietary concern, all in one book! Great for anyone who wants to be a little healthier and take care of themselves.

*I received each one of these books complimentary for my honest opinion.*
