Community Brew Link Up- Gratitude

I am linking up with Madison and Rachel today for their Community Brew Link-up! This link-up is designed to create open, honest, and vulnerable friendships and to create community.

This week's topic: Gratitude

grat·i·tude
ˈgratəˌt(y)o͞od/
noun

the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Being thankful, that's an easy one. I know that God has put me through some pretty tough trials and tribulations. I know that it's for my own good, and I know that no matter how much pain I feel/felt, it's going to mold me and teach me valuable lessons for my future.  Being thankful in the good times is easy. It's being thankful in the hard, gritty, raw times that's hard for me.

I often put up verses on my chalk board to remind me to be thankful and have gratitude to God. It seems like a no brainer, but sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life, it can be skipped over. Especially for a "new believer" or maybe an old believer who let life get in the way, and now they're trying to put God first, back at his rightful place.

How to always have gratitude? Maybe by singing his praises, Psalm 92:1, maybe by praying without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. You can just strive to be more like Jesus in any and every situation. You can do a number of things, it's just what you want to do, how far you want to go, and how much you are willing to give back to the great Almighty.

What does gratitude to God mean to you?

  1. Hi! :) Stopping over from the link up! What a great idea to put the verses on your chalkboard! I have written verses and put them in my car before and that was always a great reminder- but I love your idea of the chalkboard! Thank you for sharing! :) It's lovely to connect here!

  2. I try to thank God for the little things, even just the nice-but-everyday things. Like when I still lived in Columbus, there was this one weave lane on my commute that always made me nervous. Each time I successfully made my exit without getting into a car accident (luckily always!), I thanked God for Her help. While it's definitely important to have dedicated prayer time, my 5-second prayers throughout the day help me remember to thank God. (My longer prayers are usually pleas for help!).

  3. I love the idea of a chalkboard! What a great way to remind yourself to always be grateful. I constantly say little prayers throughout the day when I think of something I am thankful for. I think what I am most grateful for is the forgiveness. I may fail over and over to be worthy but God is always there waiting, watching, loving, and forgiving me. We are so lucky to have such a loving and forgiving Lord!
